Notifications

Set your performance digest, pick which events email you, and connect Slack for drop-off and feedback alerts.

Notifications tell you when something happens to your guides without you having to open the dashboard to find out. There are two kinds: a regular digest, and per-event alerts that fire as things happen.

Everything here lives in Settings, then Notifications. These are your own preferences, tied to your account, so changing them does not change anything for your teammates.

Coming soon. The email preferences described on this page can be set now, but nothing is being sent yet. The app notes that the "email preferences UI is in place, sending will activate once the notifications service is connected". Setting your preferences in advance is still worth doing, since they will apply once sending is live.

Email notifications

Email notifications go to your account email, the address shown under Profile in Your account. If that address is wrong, change it there first.

Performance digest

Performance digest is a summary of how your guides are doing, on a schedule you pick. The options are Off, Daily, Weekly and Monthly.

Weekly suits most teams. It is often enough to catch a guide sliding without turning into background noise you stop reading. Daily makes sense in the week after a launch, when you want to see the effect of a change quickly. Monthly works if someone else on the team watches the dashboard day to day.

Per-event emails

Four toggles control the individual alerts, each with its own trigger:

  • Drop-off spike alert. "When a step's drop rate jumps >10% in 24h."

  • New feedback. "When a user submits a rating or comment."

  • New user started a guide. "One email per new user who starts any guide."

  • Guide published. "When a teammate publishes a new guide."

What most people keep on

Most people leave Drop-off spike alert and New feedback on, and turn the other two off.

Those two are the ones that ask something of you. A drop-off spike means a step broke or stopped making sense, and feedback is a user telling you in their own words what happened. Both are worth an interruption.

New user started a guide sends one email per new user, which becomes unreadable the moment your guides get real traffic. Guide published is useful in a team of two and noise in a team of ten. The digest already covers both, so you lose very little by switching them off.

Slack notifications

Slack is Not connected by default. Click Connect Slack to link your workspace and pick a channel.

Once it is connected, the same per-event alerts post there instead of only landing in an inbox. The app describes the scope as "Drop-off spikes and feedback alerts · posts to your chosen channel".

Tip. If you connect Slack, consider turning the matching emails off. Getting the same drop-off alert in two places trains people to ignore both.
