Terms of Service

Effective Date: October 1, 2026

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of Reveal, a product of Reveal Software SRL, a company registered in Romania (“Reveal”, “we”, “us”, “our”). They form a binding agreement between Reveal and the business or organisation that creates a workspace or subscribes to a plan (the “Customer”, “you”, “your”).

If you accept these Terms on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it. If you do not have that authority, or do not agree to these Terms, do not use Reveal.

Reveal is a business-to-business service. It is not intended for consumers or for anyone under 16.

1. Definitions

  • Service: the Reveal web application and dashboard, the Reveal Guide Recorder Chrome extension (the “Extension”), the Reveal pixel script, the embed player, replay links, APIs and any related software, documentation and support we provide.

  • Workspace: the account space in which your team creates, stores and publishes guides. Each workspace has its own plan, members, settings and billing.

  • Authorised Users: your employees and contractors whom you invite to a workspace.

  • Guide: an interactive walkthrough created with the Service, made of steps, screenshots, narration audio, camera video, captions, session replays and related settings.

  • Customer Content: everything you or your Authorised Users upload to, record with or create in the Service, including recordings, session replays, screenshots, videos, captions, guide text, checklists and settings.

  • End Users: the people who view your guides, for example visitors to a website where you installed the pixel, or anyone you share an embed or replay link with.

  • Viewer Data: data the Service collects about End Users on your behalf, such as guide interactions, page URLs, approximate location and any identifier you pass to the pixel.

  • Guided User: a distinct End User who is shown at least one guide from your workspace through the pixel during a calendar month (UTC).

  • Plan: the subscription tier selected for a workspace (for example Free, Starter, Pro or Scale), with the features, limits and fees shown on our pricing page or in the billing settings of your workspace at the time you subscribe.

2. Accounts and workspaces

2.1 Sign-up. You need an account to use the Service. You must give accurate information and keep it up to date. Sign-in is provided through our authentication provider.

2.2 Workspaces and roles. A workspace has admins and members. Admins can invite and remove members, change workspace settings, manage billing and delete the workspace. You are responsible for choosing your admins and for all activity in your workspaces, whether or not you authorised it.

2.3 Security. You must keep sign-in credentials, Extension sessions and your workspace’s pixel key secure, and tell us promptly at hey@reveal.software if you believe your account or workspace has been compromised.

2.4 Authorised Users. You are responsible for making sure your Authorised Users comply with these Terms.

3. The Service

3.1 Recording. The Extension records only when an Authorised User opens it and starts a recording. While recording it captures screenshots, a session replay of the page (its structure, content and interactions), typed text (password fields are masked), and, if enabled, microphone audio and camera video. Anything visible on a recorded page may end up in a guide. You are responsible for what you choose to record.

3.2 Processing. We store recordings and generate derived media, such as transcoded video renditions, captions and exported MP4 files. Captions are produced by sending narration audio to a transcription provider, as described in our Privacy Policy.

3.3 Delivery. You can deliver guides to End Users by (a) installing the Reveal pixel on websites you control, (b) embedding the Reveal player on any page, or (c) sharing a replay link. A published guide can be viewed by anyone who has its embed or replay link, and replay links can play a recording whatever its publication status. Only share links, and only publish guides, whose content you are happy for others to see. You can limit where the pixel serves guides with the domain allow-list in your workspace settings.

3.4 Installation on your sites. You may only install the pixel on websites and applications you own or are authorised to modify. You are responsible for your sites, for how the pixel is configured on them, and for any information you pass to it (for example through the identify call).

3.5 Changes. We continuously improve the Service and may add, change or remove features. We will not materially reduce the core functionality of a paid Plan during a paid billing period. Features labelled beta, preview or “coming soon” are provided as-is, may change or be withdrawn, and are excluded from any commitments in these Terms.

3.6 Support. Support is provided at the level included in your Plan (community, email or priority), without a guaranteed response time unless agreed in writing.

4. Plans, fees and billing

4.1 Plans. The Free plan is available at no charge, requires no card and serves as the trial of the Service; there is no separate free trial of paid Plans. Paid Plans are billed monthly or annually in advance. Plan features and limits are those shown for the Plan when you subscribe.

4.2 Prices and taxes. Fees are stated and charged in US dollars and exclude VAT, sales tax and similar taxes, which are added where applicable. If you provide a valid VAT or tax ID, reverse-charge rules may apply. You are responsible for all taxes associated with your purchase other than taxes on our income.

4.3 Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for the Plan fees, applicable taxes and any prorated amounts on each renewal until you cancel. Invoices, payment methods and cancellation are managed in the billing portal linked from your workspace’s billing settings. Only workspace admins can change a workspace’s Plan.

4.4 Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period for the same period length unless cancelled before the renewal date.

4.5 Upgrades. An upgrade, or a switch from monthly to annual billing, takes effect immediately. We charge a prorated amount for the rest of the current period, and the new limits apply once that invoice is paid.

4.6 Downgrades. A downgrade, or a switch from annual to monthly billing, takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Nothing is charged at the time of the change and no credit or refund is given for the remainder of the period.

4.7 Cancellation. You can cancel a paid Plan at any time from the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, after which the workspace moves to the Free plan. Your guides, recordings and analytics are not deleted because of a cancellation or downgrade, but features and limits not included in the Free plan stop applying.

4.8 Refunds. Except where required by law or expressly stated in these Terms, fees are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods, unused Guided Users and unused features.

4.9 Failed payments. If a payment fails, we will notify your workspace admins and the workspace keeps full service for 7 days while you update your payment method. If the amount is still unpaid after 7 days, we may cancel the subscription and move the workspace to the Free plan. Nothing is deleted when this happens.

4.10 Price changes. An active subscription keeps the price and limits of the Plan version you subscribed to. We may change prices for new subscriptions at any time. If we change the price of your existing subscription, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email, and the change will apply from your next renewal after the notice period. You may cancel before it takes effect.

4.11 Custom plans. Plans above the largest published Scale tier, and any negotiated terms, are available by written agreement. If an order form or other signed agreement conflicts with these Terms, the signed agreement prevails for that conflict.

5. Usage limits and metering

5.1 Guided Users. Each Plan includes a monthly number of Guided Users per workspace. A person counts once per workspace per calendar month (UTC), however many guides they see, and counts reset at 00:00 UTC on the first day of each month, independently of your billing date.

5.2 How we count. A Guided User is counted when a guide is actually shown to them through the pixel. Where you identify a person through the pixel’s identify call we count that identifier; otherwise we use an anonymous browser identifier or, if the browser blocks storage, a daily-rotating hash. As a result, one person using several browsers or devices, or blocking storage, may be counted more than once. Views through the embed player, replay links, previews and your dashboard are not counted. Our records of Guided Users are the basis for enforcing Plan limits.

5.3 Warnings. We notify workspace admins in the dashboard and by email when a workspace reaches 80% and 100% of its monthly Guided User limit.

5.4 Grace and pausing. Between 100% and 110% of the limit, guides keep being served as a grace allowance at no extra charge. Once usage reaches 110% of the limit, we may stop showing guides to new End Users through the pixel, including checklists, until the next calendar month or until you upgrade. End Users already in the middle of a guide can finish it, and embed players, replay links and the dashboard keep working. We do not charge overage fees; to raise the limit, upgrade your Plan.

5.5 Other limits. Plans may also limit domains, features and analytics retention as described for each Plan. We may apply reasonable technical limits, including rate limits, to protect the Service.

6. Customer Content and Viewer Data

6.1 Ownership. You keep all rights in your Customer Content and Viewer Data. We claim no ownership of it.

6.2 Licence to us. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, process, transcode, transcribe and display Customer Content and Viewer Data, only as needed to provide, secure and support the Service, to comply with law, and as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your data and do not use your recording content to train AI models.

6.3 Your responsibilities. You are responsible for your Customer Content and for the lawfulness of collecting and using Viewer Data. In particular, you confirm that:

  • you have the rights, consents and notices needed to record the pages, people and voices captured in your recordings, and to show your guides to End Users;

  • your websites give End Users any notices, and obtain any consents, required by applicable law (including cookie, e-privacy and data protection laws) for the pixel and for any identifier you pass to it; and

  • you will not record, upload or pass to the Service special categories of personal data, payment card data, health data, government identifiers or other highly sensitive information, except where it is unavoidably visible on a recorded page and you have a lawful basis to include it.

6.4 Data protection. For personal data in Customer Content and Viewer Data, you are the controller and Reveal acts as your processor. Our Privacy Policy describes the data we process, our sub-processors, where data is stored and how long it is kept. A data processing agreement is available on request at hey@reveal.software and, once signed, forms part of these Terms.

6.5 Security. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect Customer Content and Viewer Data, including encryption in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you without undue delay if we become aware of a personal data breach affecting your data.

6.6 Aggregated data. We may use aggregated and de-identified data about use of the Service, which does not identify you, your Authorised Users or your End Users, to operate, secure and improve the Service.

7. Acceptable use

You will not, and will not allow anyone else to:

  • record, upload or distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or that you do not have the right to share;

  • use the Extension to record third-party websites or other people’s data in breach of those websites’ terms or applicable law, or to capture credentials or other information you are not entitled to access;

  • install the pixel on websites you do not own or control, or use guides for phishing, deceptive practices, impersonation or malware distribution;

  • interfere with the metering of Guided Users, forge requests or tokens, share pixel keys to avoid Plan limits, or otherwise circumvent usage limits or billing;

  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, bypass security or access controls, or access other customers’ data;

  • overload or disrupt the Service, including through automated traffic that exceeds reasonable use;

  • reverse engineer, decompile or copy the Service, except to the extent applicable law allows despite this restriction;

  • resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties as a standalone product, or use it to build a competing product; or

  • use the Service in breach of export control or sanctions laws.

We may remove content or suspend access that we reasonably believe breaches this section, as described in section 11.

8. Our intellectual property

We and our licensors own the Service, including the software, the Extension, the pixel and player, their design, the Reveal name and logos, and all related intellectual property. Subject to these Terms and to payment of applicable fees, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right during your subscription to use the Service for your internal business purposes and to make your guides available to End Users. On the Free plan, guides may display a Reveal badge, which you must not remove or hide.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, such as hosting, storage, authentication, transcription, email and payment providers, listed in our Privacy Policy. The Extension runs inside Google Chrome and is also subject to the Chrome Web Store’s terms. We are not responsible for services you choose to connect to or use alongside Reveal that we do not provide.

10. Confidentiality

Each party will keep confidential any non-public information the other discloses that is marked as confidential or should reasonably be understood to be confidential, use it only to perform under these Terms, and protect it with at least reasonable care. This does not apply to information that is or becomes public through no fault of the receiving party, was already known to it, is independently developed, or is lawfully received from a third party. A party may disclose confidential information where required by law, after giving notice where legally allowed.

11. Suspension and termination

11.1 By you. You may stop using the Service at any time. You can cancel a paid Plan as described in section 4.7 and delete a workspace from its settings. Deleting a workspace cancels any paid subscription immediately, without a refund, and stops guides from being served.

11.2 Suspension by us. We may suspend access to all or part of the Service, with notice where reasonably practicable, if (a) you breach section 7, (b) your use poses a security risk or could harm the Service, other customers or third parties, or (c) we are required to do so by law. We will limit any suspension to what is reasonably necessary and lift it once the issue is resolved.

11.3 Termination by us. We may terminate these Terms for a workspace (a) if you materially breach them and do not cure the breach within 30 days of notice, (b) immediately for a serious or repeated breach of section 7, or (c) for the Free plan, on 30 days’ notice. If we terminate a paid Plan for reasons other than your breach, we will refund prepaid fees for the unused remainder of the period.

11.4 Effect. On termination, your right to use the Service ends and guides stop being served. You may request an export of your Customer Content within 30 days of termination by contacting us; after that, we delete or anonymise Customer Content as described in our Privacy Policy, unless the law requires us to keep it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 4 for unpaid fees, 6.1, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 16) survive.

12. Warranties and disclaimers

12.1 Mutual. Each party confirms that it has the authority to enter into these Terms.

12.2 Our commitment. We will provide the Service with reasonable skill and care and in line with its documentation in all material respects.

12.3 Disclaimer. Except as expressly stated in these Terms, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or will work on every website. Recordings depend on the pages being recorded, and guides depend on the websites where they are shown; changes to those websites may stop steps from matching, and it is your responsibility to review and update your guides.

13. Limitation of liability

13.1 Excluded losses. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, however caused, even if advised of their possibility.

13.2 Cap. To the maximum extent permitted by law, each party’s total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid or owed to us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. For workspaces on the Free plan, our total liability is limited to USD 100.

13.3 Exceptions. Sections 13.1 and 13.2 do not limit (a) your obligation to pay fees, (b) your obligations under section 14, (c) liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or (d) any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

14. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Reveal against third-party claims, and related losses, damages and reasonable costs, arising from your Customer Content, your collection and use of Viewer Data, your websites, or your breach of section 6.3 or section 7. We will notify you promptly of any such claim, let you control its defence, and give you reasonable help at your expense.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify workspace admins by email or in the Service at least 30 days before it takes effect, unless the change is required by law or relates to new features, in which case it may take effect sooner. If you do not agree to a change, you may cancel before it takes effect; continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms. The “Effective Date” at the top shows when these Terms were last updated.

16. General

16.1 Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The competent courts of Bihor County, Romania, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, except that either party may seek urgent injunctive relief in any competent court.

16.2 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, any data processing agreement and any signed order form, are the entire agreement between the parties about the Service and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.

16.3 Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent, except to a successor of all or substantially all of your business. We may assign them to an affiliate or to a successor of our business.

16.4 Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including outages of third-party infrastructure providers, except for payment obligations.

16.5 Notices. We send notices to the email addresses of your workspace admins or through the Service. You can send notices to hey@reveal.software.

16.6 Other terms. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. The parties are independent contractors. These Terms do not create rights for third parties.
